What is a "human scale" organization?
“Human scale” isn’t about how much money you make, but about the incentive systems around your organization and how you get things done. “Small-or-medium business” didn’t really seem to cut it.
You might be working in a human scale organization if:
Your organization is not publicly traded, or owned by a publicly traded entity.
If asked to name every country your employees work from, you could answer correctly without looking it up. You can probably list them by state or city.
No one at your organization reports to an AI instead of a human supervisor.
You’re doing or making something that’s of value to someone, not just sitting back and watching your subsidiaries do the work, or owning things on behalf of a parent company.
If all of your employees and their families moved to a small town in the middle of nowhere, that town would not have just become a major metropolitan area.
You really care who you do business with. You want vendors and partners that make you better at what you do, not just someone who’ll check a box and give you some regulatory or political cover when things fail.
